Kirk Joins the Cause

Howard Slater Navigation Center over half-way funded!

We are more than half-way to reaching our goal on the construction of the Howard Slater Navigation Center thanks to community support! Chicoan Kirk Monfort just joined our cause with a generous $75,000 donation!

Kirk is a retired Chico State professor and his wife, Billie Kanter-Monfort, is a dedicated volunteer and board member of True North. Both of them are passionate about giving back to our community through several local organizations.

Avid cyclists and True North supporters Billie and Kirk

"The Navigation Center is a marvelous idea and a step in the right direction. It solves one of the main problems that those who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness face: how to get connected (even from a transportation perspective) with the services they need.” -- Kirk Monfort

We are so grateful to Kirk for this generous gift, to Billie for her longtime support, and to them both for their shared belief in our vision to stop the cycle of homelessness in our community by providing programs and services that create lasting change!

Kirk has joined a passionate group of supporters of the Howard Slater Navigation Center, including the North Valley Community Foundation and multiple generations of the Slater family--Howard's wife, Diane; son Brandon; and grandson Revin.

We've raised nearly $1.6 million and are now 62% of the way toward our $2.5 million goal for this project! Will you help us close the gap?

For those of you who have already joined the cause with your donations--thank you so much! We are so thrilled to see the incredible community support that is growing for the Howard Slater Navigation Center.

With gratitude,

Taylor Bunch, True North Housing Alliance Executive Director
