And the Butte County Woman of the Year is ...

Our executive director Taylor Bunch is the 2024 Butte County Woman of the Year!

This tremendous honor was awarded to her by Assemblyman James Gallagher's office for Taylor's accomplishments as a "valued civic leader" who has "left a lasting impact on the Butte County community and beyond."

As part of this honor, Taylor was recognized for her work with True North, including leading the charge on our innovative Howard Slater Navigation Center to "centralize access to shelter, housing assistance, and a comprehensive range of services streamlining the path to permanent housing by addressing underlying issues and catering to diverse demographic populations."

Congratulations, Taylor! And congratulations to these amazing women of the year who were also honored in their counties: Abby Swearinger (Glenn County), Lieutenant Susan Jensen (Sutter County), Araceli Gutierrez (Tehama County), and Despina “Peppie” Schrader (Yuba County).

"I am incredibly grateful to receive this award from Assemblyman James Gallagher's office, and so thankful for the amazing support I have received from my mentors and from the True North team, who have made this honor possible by supporting me and empowering me throughout my journey to make a lasting difference in our community. I am so honored to be included in a group with these strong, fantastic women doing such incredible work in our North State communities! Thank you, Assemblyman Gallagher, for doing this every year to recognize the hard work of women in our communities who are making a difference!" - Taylor Bunch

You can read more about the awards on Assemblyman Gallagher's website.

Thanks to community support, we are just $946,000 away from reaching our $2.5 million fundraising goal to build the Howard Slater Navigation Center. Will you help us close the gap?

For those of you who have already joined the cause with your donations--thank you so much! We know we say this a lot, but we truly could not do this without you.

With so much gratitude,

Team True North
