Volunteer with us!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with True North Housing Alliance. We truly would not be here without our dedicated volunteers!

We were founded by a passionate group of volunteers in 1998. Since then, we have grown into an organization that in just 2023 alone was able to serve over 830 people and house over 200 people in need in our community.

To this day, our volunteers remain a critical part of our work. Whether you want to serve meals to our guests at the Torres Shelter, help out at a fundraising event, or provide specialty services (such as hair cuts or arts/health classes), your support truly changes lives!

Volunteer Opportunities

Monitoring assistants

Monitoring Assistants help our staff with daily living services and operations at the Torres Community Shelter. They assist at the front counter, providing services and resources related to checking in, showering, laundry, mail, medication and more. Volunteer hours can be flexible to meet your schedule, because the shelter is open 24-hours a day.

Meal providers

These volunteers prepare, cook and serve a delicious dinner for our guests at the shelter at 6 p.m. This is a great option for groups: friends, church groups, service clubs, etc.

Activity Volunteer

These volunteers provide onsite services our guests would benefit from such as haircuts, chiropractic care, games or recreation activities, musical events, and classes (crafts, resume development, etc.).

Special Project/Event Volunteer

These volunteers help out during special projects and events, such as Empty Bowls or Chico State’s Cats in the Community.
