Chico couple joins Navigation Center cause with generous donation

We're so thrilled to share that Dale Bennett and Sheryl Campbell-Bennett have joined the cause to build the Howard Slater Navigation Center with a generous $25,000 donation!

We have now raised nearly $1.7 million toward our $2.5 million goal, thanks to community support! Join the cause at: truenorthbutte.org/navigation-center

The Howard Slater Navigation Center is named in honor of longtime supporter and friend of the Torres Shelter, Howard Slater.

Dale and Sheryl have known the Slater family for years and wanted to support the project that is “an example of Howard’s dedication to our community.”

From Dale & Sheryl:

“This Navigation Center will provide one location for service providers, reducing duplication of services for the willing unsheltered population. This in turn will reduce the time for getting the unsheltered off the streets and into permanent housing, providing a compassionate hand up and at the same time assisting in providing some much-needed accountability for the unsheltered."

"Dale has been immersed in the homeless crisis as a City Councilmember and we often talk about it and what the possibilities are to take positive steps towards addressing the multifaceted homeless issues. We saw an opportunity to contribute to the Shelter in a small, but meaningful way, with the creation of the new Howard Slater Navigation Center.”

Dale and Sheryl are both actively involved in the Chico community—Dale has been a member of the Chico Noon Rotary Club since 1994 and has served on the boards of the Chico Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Chico Business Association and Chico History Museum. Sheryl is currently consulting for Chico Housing Action Team’s planned apartment complex for folks with disabilities, provides meals for CHAT’s Everhart Village, and has served on the Butte County Grand Jury and the City of Chico’s Architectural and Historic Preservation Board.

Our team is so thankful for Dale and Sheryl’s generous support! We are thrilled to see the depth and breadth of community support for this important project that will change lives and make a significant, positive impact as our community faces the challenges of addressing homelessness.

We are honored to have Sheryl and Dale be a part of that important legacy to create lasting change!
