Torres Shelter Seniors Need Your Support To Secure Safe Housing
I’m going to level with you: we are continuing to see an unprecedented number of seniors entering our Torres Shelter every year, and we need your help to safely house them.
In November 2022 we launched our annual Home Again fundraising campaign to gather support for vulnerable seniors in need. Because of the kindness of donors who believe in our cause, Home Again has empowered us to provide critical shelter and housing services to 447 seniors!
Your donation today not only provides seniors with a home for the holidays, but it saves lives. Will you donate today and help us meet our goal to raise $200,000?
If you act now, the impact of your gift is doubled! Thanks to generous support from the Emil and Leonora Stiefvater Senior Endowment and another angel donor, every dollar we raise through Dec. 31st will be matched up to $45,000!
In 2024, we have served 1,118 people so far--the highest in our 26-year history!
Everyone we serve receives wraparound support. We address basic needs, such as shelter, 3 meals a day, showers, and ADA restrooms.
We also offer physical and mental healthcare support; substance use recovery; vocational training; enrichment and arts activities; digital literacy courses; and personalized case management.
All of these offerings have expanded since Home Again launched!
As a result, we have served a record number of people while also dramatically reducing returns to homelessness! 96.9% of our guests who have been housed and received our aftercare support services since Jan. 2023 are still stably housed, with only 3.1% returning to homelessness (compared to 14% nationally).
Please make a donation today to double your impact and support seniors in need. Please consider joining as a monthly donor to have the greatest impact as we work hard helping seniors 24/7, 365-days a year!
We say this a lot, only because it’s true: Your support changes lives.
Happy holidays,
Taylor Bunch
