Meet Deborah
About this story: We have a diverse group of guests at the Torres Community Shelter, our emergency shelter for adults and seniors (over the age of 60). We want you to meet them, to hear their stories, and to understand the impact that we can make together.
After Deborah’s mother passed away, she and her daughter lost everything. That’s when they turned to True North Housing Alliance. She’s one of our guests at the Torres Community Shelter who has an emotional support animal. Say hello to Peanut!
At the shelter, her case manager has helped her search for housing and work on budgeting. But above all, True North Housing Alliance has offered her life-saving services, she said.
“I’m grateful for this place. I’ve never been homeless before. If I wasn’t in here, I would probably be dead because I really don’t think I could make it out in the elements,” she said. “I would like people to know if they are out there and need to get help, they need to come here. You’re not on your own. Someone is there to back you up and help you.”
