True North Receives Generous Support from Anika Burke
Anika Rodriguez Kronmiller has always had compassion for the less fortunate.
When she was growing up, her family opened up their home and their hearts to families experiencing homelessness, ensuring that they had a warm, safe place to spend the holidays.
In college, Anika volunteered and provided services and care to houseless children.
Now, as downtown business owner of Anika Burke, she has dedicated many hours and resources to organizations raising awareness and helping find solutions to important issues, including human trafficking, domestic violence and homelessness.
This year, Anika made the generous decision to give to the adults and seniors we serve at True North, who are experiencing homelessness.
In addition to drumming up monetary donations for us online, she has held multiple clothing drive events.
For the month of December 2020, she’ll be donating $5 to our emergency shelter, the Torres Community Shelter, for every pair of Butter Soft Jammies pajama pants that are sold.

Her generosity doesn’t stop there. Last month, customers were able to purchase comfortable, professional clothing items for $5 to donate to our guests at the shelter. Her business matched that, donating an additional clothing item for each purchased for our programs.
Anika told us that she was drawn to supporting True North and our programs because we offer people resources and a plan to help them move forward and secure permanent housing.
“That was really important to me,” she said. “Being proactive is going to keep people out of human trafficking, and I feel like True North, with your program of accountability and finding more permanent solutions, is going to be that first step of getting people out of a vulnerable situation.”
On behalf of our team at True North, we want to thank Anika for her tremendous generosity.
Support like this is huge for our programs and for the success of the guests we serve.
