Join Us in the Fight Against Senior Homelessness
The following was featured as our fall/winter 2025 mailed letter to supporters
At True North Housing Alliance, we know that it is impossible to care for our community without caring for our seniors.
The heartbreaking truth is that senior homelessness is on the rise. Seniors are the fastest-growing group of people experiencing homelessness in the U.S., with nearly 140,000 seniors experiencing homelessness on any given night.
Rising cost of living, limited income, and shortage of available affordable housing units all contribute to this frightening number, which is expected to triple by 2030.
This is frightening. This is unacceptable. But we are not powerless. Together, we can do something about it.
Our nonprofit was originally created to shelter people in need during the coldest months of the year. Twenty-seven years later, our mission to solve homelessness by providing services rooted in compassion, dignity, and accountability is more important than ever--and so is your support.
In November 2022 we created our annual Home Again fundraiser to combat this troubling statistic and get seniors back where they belong: off the streets and in the safety and comfort of their own homes.
Because of the support of donors in our community, Home Again has empowered us to provide critical shelter and housing services to 579 seniors and counting!
This holiday season, show that you support housing for seniors by taking action and helping us provide the life-saving work of housing seniors in our community.
If you act now, the impact of your gift is doubled! Thanks to a $20,000 gift from the Emil and Leonora Stiefvater Senior Endowment and a $30,000 gift from Chuck Patterson and Toyota, every dollar we raise through Dec. 31st will be matched up to $50,000!
In 2024, despite facing significant federal funding cuts and a lack of available affordable housing, we served a record number of people--over 1,200. We also dramatically reduced returns to homelessness and housed nearly 200 people. We continued those wins in 2025, opening our Howard Slater Navigation Center and launching homelessness prevention services so that we can break the cycle of homelessness before it begins!
As a generous supporter of True North, you will send a powerful message to those experiencing homelessness: There is hope for a brighter tomorrow, and we will advocate for a safe, healthy community for everyone.
Please make a donation today to double your impact and support seniors in need this holiday season. We need your donation to help seniors in our community survive and thrive.
In solidarity,

Home At Last
In the heart of winter, John saw his friend die while struggling to survive on the streets. Homeless and grieving, John grew desperate to find a place of his own before it was too late.
John was referred to our Torres Shelter. There, he met with his case manager, who helped him navigate all of the steps he needed to secure a stable income and find his way home again.
In February of 2025, John moved into a new apartment complex in Paradise, fully furnished thanks to the generosity of True North donors. John said he loves it there because of the "peace and quiet.β Heβs looking forward to going fishing.
"I was traumatized on the streets. True North navigated me all the way to my door. I couldn't have done it without them, I really couldn't," John said. "They gave me hope."
Happy Holidays!
Thank you so much for your life-saving support.
